NETGEAR DRIVES INNOVATION WITH NEW 5-SPEED SWITCHES FEATURING MULTI-GIGABIT TECHNOLOGY

Comprehensive portfolio of highly flexible Unmanaged, Smart Managed Pro and Fully Managed Switches automatically offer devices the fastest speed possible over existing wiring, to blow past the Gigabit bottleneck

SAN JOSE, California — October 3, 2017NETGEAR®, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTGR), the leading provider of networking devices that power today’s smart home and small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), has set a new standard in flexibility for networking switches with the introduction of its revolutionary, industry-first 5-speed Multi-Gigabit switching products. All of the devices in your business, small office or home can now run at their individual highest speeds as the intelligent ports on the switches automatically adapt to the optimal speed required on a per-port basis. Businesses are able to combine legacy Ethernet speeds like 100 Mbps or 1Gbps with 10 Gbps and now 2.5 and 5 Gbps for the newest devices, without needing to install expensive new cabling to alleviate speed barriers.

There are 7 switches in the uniquely comprehensive NETGEAR portfolio of Multi-Gigabit/5-Speed Switches, featuring both copper and fiber options, desktop and rackmount, to offer customers a solution to fit every need.

  • XS505M 5-Port 10-Gigabit/Multi-Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch with SFP+ Port — available now for $399.99
  • XS805M 8-Port 10-Gigabit/Multi-Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch with SFP+ Port— available now for $599.99
  • GS110MX 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch with 2-Port 10G/Multi-Gig Uplinks (GS110MX)— available in November 7th for $199.99
  • GS110EMX 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Smart Managed Plus Switch with 2-Port 10G/Multi-Gig Uplinks — available in November 7th for $249.99
  • MS510TX 8-Port Multi-Gigabit Ethernet Smart Managed Pro Switch with 10G Copper and SFP+ Ports — available now for $349.99
  • MS510TXPP 8-Port PoE+ Multi-Gigabit Ethernet Smart Managed Pro Switch with 10G Copper and SFP+ Ports — available now for $449.99
  • M4200 Fully Managed Intelligent Edge Series Multi-Gigabit Ethernet Switch with PoE+ and 2 SFP+ Ports — available now for $1,149.99

Other 10-Gigabit switches provide a standard 1-Gigabit connectivity to any device requiring less than 10Gbps, but the new NETGEAR Multi-Gigabit Switches provide additional options for 2.5 and 5 Gbps if the device and cabling support it. Each of the multi-speed copper Ethernet ports automatically detects the speed requested by the connected device, the quality of the cabling and provides the appropriate connection at one of five speeds.

The newest high-performance networking devices such as  network cards, gaming PCs, desktop PCs, servers, and AC Wave 2 Wireless Access Points now offer both 2.5-Gigabit or 5-Gigabit connectivity. Therefore, the multi-speed capabilities of the NETGEAR Switches make them the perfect plug-and-play solution for taking advantage of the full potential for performance and coverage offered by these modern, high-speed devices.

“The industry-first Multi-Gigabit Switches we’re introducing today enable us to offer a breakthrough flexibility in cost-effective Ethernet switching that SMBs have been waiting for,” explained Richard Jonker, vice president of product line management for SMB products at NETGEAR. “New products today aren’t only 1 Gigabit or 10 Gigabit; they operate at speeds in between. It is similar to the old Brother’s Grimm fairytale of Goldilocks— each device on your network has a switching speed that is ‘just right’ for it. With our new 5-Speed Multi-Gigabit Ethernet Switches, we help your newest devices reach their maximum potential, including at 2.5 or 5  Gbps speeds over existing cabling.”
